Ellesse has joined forces with fitness fanatic Lucy Mecklenburgh to launch their first ever recycled sports collection on 9th January. This is a capsule range that places the environment and sustainable products at the forefront of it’s messaging. The pieces range from £18 to £50 and will be available exclusively online at ellesse.co.uk.
The range was created to showcase how thoughtful design and creativity can care for the environment whilst also standing up to the technical expectations of active wear. The collection recycles polyethylene; one of the most common consumer plastics used to reduce the amount going into landfill sites by showing that the bottles used during exercise can be recycled to create your work out gear.
The collection includes a range of sports bras, running vests, shorts, leggings and running jackets. In keeping with the ellesse tradition, the capsule collection also draws on ellesse’s rich sporting heritage, updating iconic pieces and classic designs in exclusive prints that reflect the environmental message of the range. Each piece is curated by Lucy who is focused on selecting key silhouettes with great fits and luxurious fabrics whilst also maintaining the full functionality of the products in lightweight fabrics that are strong and inherently water resistant.
Speaking about the Recycled Collection, Lucy Mecklenburgh said: “My eco collection for Ellesse is one of my proudest achievements. It really means something that I’ve created from scratch a fitness clothing collection that’s not only eco friendly because it’s made of recycled water bottles but it’s also bang on trend. It’s been months in the making to ensure it’s perfect. I used my experience of working out to make specific pieces that are actually wearable in the gym, like the amazing sports bras but also kept it mind that girls want to look in fashion too. I love everything about it, from the colours and the prints to the little thumb holders on the sleeved tops and supportive sports bras to keep everything in place during a workout!”
